Our success is grounded on the value that we place on four vital components – our students, their parents, our teachers and the teaching methodologies that we employ. We welcome all students who want to achieve, whatever their individual academic abilities or ambitions. We are fully aware of the huge potential and possibility of each student and we are genuinely interested in helping each student achieve what they desire. We are intent on focusing on each individual student’s requirements, pastoral and academic, in order to help them attain their individual goals. We strive to ensure that all students are encouraged, motivated and driven towards achieving their best - whatever that may be. It is our aim that Ashfield students will learn a number of skills that will not only bring them exam success, but life skills that will benefit them in college and beyond. Daily study sessions together with study skill seminars help students to organise their time and their work. Regular assessments help students to keep on top of their work. Our career guidance counsellor directs students through the difficult decisions that need to be made and a full range of subjects are available to help broaden students’ choices. We recognise that the Senior Cycle years are challenging and that is why I personally operate an open-door policy where students are free to discuss anything at anytime.
Parents may be assured that we will remain in regular contact about matters such as attendance, homework, assessments, behaviour and punctuality. An open door policy at Ashfield means that we invite parents to drop in to the college or make a ‘phone call as often as they wish.
As teachers, we are a small community of like-minded individuals, who are driven by a common determination to provide quality education. Our teachers are committed, driven and enthusiastic with an indisputable passion for their subject areas. We are approachable, personable and generous with our time, often staying back after class to explain issues further. For the benefit of our students, class sizes are small; classes are not taught as lectures, rather students are actively encouraged to ask questions and have points clarified. Year after year, such methods help our students to achieve outstanding results.
Your first important decision of the Senior Cycle begins here. We are dedicated to helping you achieve your best. If you want the best for you, contact us today to experience the unique, welcoming atmosphere of Ashfield at first hand.Louise Heeran Flynn
